A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer truck along the Massachusetts Turnpike on Tuesday morning in Framingham, according to state troopers.

State police troopers were on scene of the crash on the eastbound side of the highway at around 11:30 a.m. Troopers said it happened around mile marker 111.

A state police spokesman confirmed shortly before 1 p.m. that the pedestrian, a man from Boston, has died.

Police later said the man had stopped in the breakdown lane and gotten out of his vehicle before suddenly running toward the truck as it approached.

The incident is being considered an apparent suicide, state police said.

The two left lanes were closed after the crash, but all lanes had reopened by around 2:30 p.m.
