Traffic on westbound I-80 was back to normal Thursday after contractors had to remove a sign over the road. About mid-morning Thursday, traffic was detoured onto Route 178, so workers could remove a sign struck by a dump trailer 24 hours earlier. That truck, say State Police, was driven by Donald Ruppert of Peru.

The sign indicating the exit to Northbound I-39 will be reinstalled later. THAT may necessitate a detour or a lane closure – something IDOT will decide. Thursday morning's project took about 90 minutes.
