It has been a great year for TV and film so far, and there are still tons of highly-anticipated releases scheduled for the remainder of 2023. Book lovers have a lot to look forward to as many bestsellers are being adapted for both the big and small screens this year.

There have already been several successful book-to-screen adaptations released earlier this year like "A Man Called Otto" starring Tom Hanks, which is based on Fredrik Backman's "A Man Called Ove." Taylor Jenkins Reed's "Daisy Jones & the Six," which was made into a Prime Video series, was also long-awaited by fans of the popular author. "Knock at the Cabin" was another box-office hit that was based on the 2018 horror novel "The Cabin at the End of the World" by Paul Tremblay.
Regardless of your book genre of choice, there's surely at least one upcoming book-to-screen adaptation that you'll love. Of course, there are popular films like "Dune: Part Two" and "Wonka" being released later this year, but there are others that may not be as well-known. "All the Light We Cannot See" might just be the book readers are most looking forward to seeing on screen this year. This 2014 historical fiction novel by Anthony Doerr is a New York Times bestseller, which won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The novel tells the beautiful tale of Marie-Laure, a blind French girl who meets a German boy named Werner, as the two try to survive in occupied France during World War II. The book is being adapted into a limited series on Netflix, and the captivating trailer was just released last week. The series will star Mark Ruffalo, Aria Mia Loberti and Lars Eidinger and is set to release on November 2, 2023.
"A Haunting in Venice" is based on Agatha Christie's 1969 thriller "Hallowe'en Party: A Hercule Poirot Mystery." The novel follows detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates the murder of a 13-year-old girl while attending a Halloween party at a haunted mansion in Venice. The book is being adapted into a film directed by Kenneth Branagh who also plays Poirot. Jamie Dornan, Michelle Yeoh and Tina Fey also star in the movie. The trailer for "A Haunting in Venice" was just released this week, and it'll hit theaters on September 15, 2023.
"Red, White & Royal Blue" is a 2019 LGBT romance novel by Casey McQuiston, which was an instant New York Times bestseller and named Best Book of the Year by Vogue, NPR and Vanity Fair. The book centers around the first son of the United States Alex Claremont-Diaz and his romance with British royalty Prince Henry. "Red, White & Royal Blue" is being made into a Prime Video film, which is set to release on August 11, 2023.
"Eileen" is a 2015 suspenseful novel by the popular author Otessa Moshfegh that follows 24-year-old Eileen who lives an uneventful life as a secretary at a men's prison. Eileen's life changes when she meets the prison's new therapist Rebecca Saint John and is quickly captivated by her. The novel has been adapted into a film that premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. It'll star Thomasin McKenzie, who plays Eileen, and Anne Hathaway as Rebecca. The film is set to release in theaters later this year, but no exact date has been set.
"Silo" is a new Apple TV series based on the book trilogy by Hugh Howey which includes the dystopian fiction novels "Wool," "Shift" and "Dust." The series follows a post-apocalyptic society in a destructive future as people live in a silo deep underground. When the sheriff breaks a fundamental rule, residents begin mysteriously dying and an engineer named Juliette starts exposing the truth about the silo. The series stars Rebecca Ferguson, who plays Juliette, along with Tim Robbins, Rashida Jones, Common and Chinaza Uche. The dramatic trailer was released earlier this month, and the series will be streaming on Apple TV+ on May 5, 2023.
