Parts of a Johnston County highway is shut down Thursday night due to a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer and dirt bike rider.

According to reports, the incident occurred on U.S. Highway 70 at West Edwards in Princeton.

The driver of the 18-wheeler lost control when the person riding the dirt bike tried to cut in front of the trailer.

The dirt bike rider has been pronounced dead.

The names of those involved have not been released, and further investigation is underway.
