‘Iron Lung’: YouTuber Markiplier Releases Scary Trailer For Video Game Adaptation

YouTube personality Markiplier released a teaser for his upcoming horror movie

YouTube personality Markiplier released a teaser for his upcoming horror movie Iron Lung, which he wrote the screenplay for and will direct and star in.

According to Deadline, details about the movie's plot are being kept under wraps, but it will also star Caroline Rose Kaplan and will be self-financed by Markiplier.

The movie is an adaptation of the 2022 first-person horror video game of the same name, created by David Szymanski.

"Set entirely within a claustrophobic one-man submarine nicknamed the ‘Iron Lung,’ you must blindly navigate an ocean of blood to take photographs of key locations, and hope whatever lives below doesn't find you," reads the synopsis of the game.

The movie trailer opens with an empty brick corridor whose only light source appears to be a light bulk fixed to the ceiling.

As the camera pans around the area, worried voices are heard chatting on an intercom.

At one point, someone warns their partner about "irregularities in the instruments" but states that there are no "sparks or flames, or anything like that."

The person says they’re "approaching maximum depth."

The scene fades to black and a control room with a desk and an empty chair appears on the scene. "We’re starting to lose the signal," the person says as their voice cuts out.

Following the release of the trailer, Szymanski tweeted about his involvement in the movie adaptation. He confirmed that he's been "heavily involved" and will star in a brief cameo.

So yes, tl;dr the reason I've been so busy lately is because I've been heavily involved with production of the Iron Lung movie, from assisting with the script and pre-production to now being on set for the shoot and even having a small cameo in the film!

Video Game composer Andrew Hulshult, known for Dusk and Doom Eternal, also had news to share: "I have no idea how to announce this, so here we go… I am scoring the Iron Lung movie based on a game by David Szymanski starring Markiplier," he said. "I am having so much fun!"

Born Mark Edward Fischbach, Markiplier has 34.7 million subscribers on YouTube and has been an active creator since 2012. The YouTuber has created over 5,000 videos, which have accumulated over 19 billion views. He was named #11 on Forbes’ list of the Top Creators of 2022.

Last year, Markiplier shared a video playing Iron Lung which garnered 5.7 million views.
