Aishwarya Rai startee by saying vanakkam. She further said in Tamil, "I am so happy to be here. I thank the fans for all their love."

She further added, "A heartfelt thanks to the audience for recognising our work. Thank you to Mani Ratnam, my guru. I will remain your student forever."

Vikram started off with iconic monologue from Ponniyin Selvan. The actor added, "Like how Aditha Karikalan cannot forget Nandini, I can't forget Aditha Karikalan. I have many dream roles and this role is one such. The courage, compassion and love that he has is something I loved it. I am gifted to do such a role. That too, in a Mani Ratnam movie is even more special. I have to thank him for that. Also, thank you for accepting me in the role. There were so many people who worked on this role, right from costume designer to choreographer. Rahman sir had composed beautiful background score. He had outdone himself. Every time a song comes out, I keep listening to it in repeat."

Trisha, who plays Kundavai, thanked her fans. She said, "After PS 1 release, I received more than 100 DMs from people who dressed up as Kundavai. I take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the effort.

She signed off saying, 'Uyir Eppodhum ungalodadhu dhan' (my life is yours) ponting at fans.

Karthi shared that after appearing in Pon iyin Selvan, he is getting a lot more DMs on Instagram. "No one could take love scene like Mani Ratnam. When I did Paiyaa, I received a lot of love letters. Now, after Vanthiyathevan, I am getting a lot of DMs on Instagram," he said.

Karthi opened up about the moment he was offered Ponniyin Selvan. Speaking athe launch he said, "Ponniyin Selvan has created several records. The film made many people step into cinemas yet again. No one asked me how it was when I was offered Ponniyin Selvan. I was in Kaithi shoot when Mani sir asked me if I would like to do Vanthiyathevan character. I was very confident that I could pull it off. I was already thinking about it, visuals of gladiator and Marudhunayagam were running in my mind."

Aishwarya Lekshmi spoke about her character, Poonguzhali. She said, "Poonguzhali is so full of love and that is known after reading the book. Thank you Mani sir for giving me Poonguzhali. This film is my pride. I am so happy that I could be part of it."

Jayam Ravi, who plays Arulmozhi Varman in Ponniyin Selvan, said, "Many elders, people who haven't been to theatres for several years, had come to watch Ponniyin Selvan in theatres. My heartfelt thanks to everyone. You can expect twice the amount of everything in the second part. Just like you, we are also waiting to see PS 2 in theatres. I think Mani Ratnam is the first person to finish 2 parts at once and made the audience see the first part and then wait for the second part."

Simbu was asked to choose between two leading female characters of Ponniyin Selvan - Kundavai or Nandini? To this, he answered, "If you ask about my two eyes, how can I choose?"

When further asked about his fav character in the world of Ponniyin Selvan, Simbu said he will play any character that Mani Ratnam gives him.

Speaking about Vikram, Simbu said, "Vikram has done well. I heard that Thangalaan has come out well. I am eager to see Vikram and Aishwarya's portions. To see my favourite Vanthiyathevan and Trisha's character arcs is something I am excited about."

STR said at PS 2 trailer and audio launch, "I am tense already. My guru, Kamal sir, Mani and Rahman sir are here. So I am quite tense. You know how PS 1 is a huge success. Mani sir is someone who gave me a film when I was in a tough situation. I have heard that many people wanted to do Ponniyin Selvan but it had been dropped. Mani sir tried it thrice and I am proud to see his work. I see him as a child. Only children can get what they want with their undying spirit. That's what I learnt from him. I am a night person. Today, if I am going to the shoot right on time in the morning, it's because of Mani sir."

AR Rahman is the music composer of both Ponniyin Selvan films. At the audio launch of PS 2, AR Rahman said, "I need to thank Mani sir for giving me work for 31 years. I see him in every phase - as a brother, friend and mentor. Everyone keeps asking him when he's gonna make a comeback. They ask me the same question every 3 years. But he just encourages me for everything. He has taken Tamil cinema to a new level."

Sarath Kumar, addressing the audience, joked that Ponniyin Selvan gave him the opportunity to hug Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He said, "My first scene with Aishwarya was one where I was to caress her hand and ask about a ring. The scene was cut twice. Mani then asked me 'Don't you know how to romance?' My heart sank. I loved two people and got married twice in my life, but still he asked me that question. On a lighter note, I got the opportunity to hug Aishwarya Rai."

Kamal Haasan has unveiled the trailer of Ponniyin Selvan 2.

Kamal Haasan further added, "This is not just a golden era for Cholas, but the golden era for Tamil cinema too. My heartfelt congratulations to everyone. More success awaits Mani Ratnam."

He also said, "You can't make such a film without fear. Mani Ratnam would have had the fear and said the hit dialogue from virumandi - Veeram na enna theriyuma bayam illadha madhiri nadikardhu (you know what's courage? To act like you don't fear."

Kamal Haasan also took over the stage. Addressing the audience, he said, "Thanks to all the fans who made me get on to the stage for the past years. Only Simbu will know that because he has been acting since young years. I got the opportunity to act with my talent. I have lost films too like Ponniyin Selvan, so I gave voice over."

He added, "I feel jealous seeing Mani Ratnam. We could understand how it was going to go. I got a new opportunity via AR Rahman day before yesterday. His orchestra played songs and it was magic. I was overwhelmed and at a loss of words. Life is short and getting a chance in cinema is less. We should all celebrate the chances we get. This is not a time to be jealous."

Director Bharathiraja addressed the audience and said, "I get angry whenever I see Mani Ratnam. I used to think I am the best, but when I looked back, Mani Ratnam overtook me.The great man he is; he is the best in the business when it comes to modern sensibilities. Sad that Kalki Krishnamurthy isn't alive today. Anyone can make a cinema, but to make a historical film without being incorrect is tough. But he has succeeded. Mani is my friend and I am so proud of that."

He also added, "I shouldn't say this. MGR wanted to make Ponniyin Selvan. He sat with me, Kamal and Sridevi- Kamal as Vandhiyathevan and Sridevi as Kundavai. Later, he fell sick. Even if I had made Ponniyin Selvan, it wouldn't have been this big. Right from costumes to dance movements, everything screams about that period. Every single aspect is perfect. I am in the midst of talented people."
